VMware Tools on 9.04

[Dexter Filmore]

Been trying to install VMware tools as well as open vm tools, both to no or 
little success. Best I manged with VMware tools (open tools didn't build 
altogether) was a higher resolution, but won't autofit the window or go 
fullscreen, mouse is stuck on vm borders. 
VMware WS 6.5.0, Kub 8.04 host. 

Pointers?
