Dear Ignazio,

You have been kind enough to help me before, are you a moderator, or did you
respond from the list?

If you are able to help me, I would sure appreciate it. I am on the east
coast of the US for time, and Eberhard, who was helping me, is in Germany. I
believe he is still sleeping maybe.

Anyway, the Xine installation is the culprit of all my current problems. I
just realized that. When I was working with a fresh install and having no
real problems, I was waiting for a response to a question and decided to use
the time to install Xine. Because I was using KpackageKit, it never really
occurred to me that a simple installation could cause such a crash. After
getting my system back, I got into the selfsame situation and it happened
again. While waiting during some dead time, with nothing else to do, I
decided to use the time to install Xine again. Still, it did not register
that using the GUI to install a program I have installed on other OS's had
anything to do with the crash, I struck out, because I did the same stupid
thing for the third time.

The only way I have been able to get help is using the Live CD, so each time I
accept an instruction and have to boot to attempt the help suggested, I lose
whatever incoming emails are downloaded and all the email addresses including
the one who is helping me. I then have to just sit and wait for someone to
post, or recently I thought of going to the Archive.

Will you read my response to Eberhard and see if you can tell if I must
reinstall again. I want to avoid it if possible, because of all the
reconfiguration that must take place getting back to normal, but if I have to,
I have an important need for my computer functioning with e-Sword installed
for something for the Church this evening. I am responsible and several will
be inconvenienced if I fail. Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Steven
