konsole command line geometry

how does one set geometry for konsole from the command line?

looking in konsole --help-kde i see

--geometry <geometry>     sets the client geometry of the main widget -
see man X for the argument format

but doing what one would with xterm like

konsole --geometry 100x100

doesn't have any effect.

i also don't understand what is meant by man X, since there is no
manual entry for X.
