I do not know what the name of the package is, I thought maybe nautilus, but 
no one ever commented.  On the login screen, there is an option at the very 
bottom, that I have never used before, and did not notice when it was 
described.  It contains the option to choose desktop.  I open that and choose 
KDE and everything works again.  It doesn't hurt having Gnome in, I guess, and 
I have a lot of space, so I am going to leave it in my computer.  It 
apparently has most of the things I like that are in KDE, so I want to take a 
closer look one of these days, when it is want I intended doing anyway.

When I opened my computer and found Gnome, and I did not want it, and couldn't 
figure how to get KDE back, it was a bit frustrating.  Nonetheless, I can work 
easy enough in the Gnome desktop; in fact, it looks like it is a better 
transitional choice for people migrating from microsoft products.  I still 
much prefer KDE.  What I thought I was installing was a variant of Dolphin.  
That is what the helper made it sound like.  It obviously was Gnome.

It is not fun having to try to resume your work with a new desktop and also 
while not expecting it.
