That has been the std method of switching back and forth since there was a
choice of desktops. Unforch I haven't used synaptic in quite a while, my only
kubuntu install is 6.06 LTS, runs my milling machine. But I suspect that one
of the repositories has not been enabled. Or its been replaced with a more
modern version/method.
So I'll leave this to someone more familiar with the more recent releases of
*ubuntu to advise. Maybe its even hidden in the config menu's somehow? I
don't know.
And I even went down in the basement here and fired up the machine I call
goat, cuz its sacrificial (not to mention old & slow, 1ghz athlon, not enough
memory either) and was not able to find such a setting in the kubuntu menu's.
Sorry.
So it appears a _real_ guru is needed here, I just play one at a tv station
occasionally, now that I have been retired for about 7 years now. :)
