Boot off the windows CD, then select "R" to enter the repair console and 
log into the Windows installation.  Then type "fixboot" at the command 
prompt and press enter. Then type "fixmbr" and press enter. This will 
fix the Windows XP boot, but then again, it will wipe grub completely 
out of the mbr and any linux installs will be 'dead'

To get to the linux installs, the method I use is to boot off the live 
cd, then make a directory and mount the linux root partition in it, then 
chroot into the directory you mounted then use grub-install or the grub 
terminal to fix/reinstall grub.
