Switching desktops

Not so much a silly question, as just a silly problem :-)

Still, if you are having a problem like this going to the "System Settings", 
"Keyboard & Mouse", "Global Keyboard Shortcuts" should enable you to find 
_what_ your keys are assigned to, and attempting to reassign anything would 
have made it clear that your F lock was on.
