Upgrade KDE to 4.2

Can you start another window manager like icewm from the CL?

startx /user/bin/icewm -- :1

(Use the -- :1 extension only if kdm is running, and you might need to install
ice first using sudo apt-get install icewm)

If that all works then only kde is messed up.

I found that even with apt-get or adept, I still had to install kdebase-
workspace-bin separately

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kdebase-workspace-bin
sudo apt-get upgrade

If any packages are held back you can install/upgrade individually after 4.2
is running.

good luck
Paul
