I just lost my drop-down menubar?

Does anyone know what the package is called that provided the ability to have 
the menubar that contains package links represented by icons as a dropdown 
when you put the cursor at the Desktop top.  Amonge configuration choices is 
to have that bar transparent as well as hide.  Using system 
settings>desktop>behavior, I was able to get a menubar that will work for me, 
however, I would like the other one back if possible.  I used the Mac choice.

Thanks to you guys, I knew to use Alt+F2 to access System Settings and get a 
workaround, but I don't know  what command might  fix the problem.  I 
remember something about dpkg configure, is that useful in this situation?
