Yes I have seen that happen, from my experience when I create an event
from a mail. The whole mail gets copied into your ics file unless you
"untick" the attachment box in creating the event. You get a huge ics
file as result.

Solution: manually edit the ics file and remove the "offending" events.
Next time you create from mail make sure not to attach the mail to the
event.
