ADSL Connection Problem

Amit,

The first thing you should do is run ifconfig in terminal and see what
you get. It will tell you whether you have a connection and what you
interfaces are doing.

sudo pppoeconf is the command of a adsl connection which requires a user
name and password. When your adsl does not need that , it should connect
automatically.

You need to look at the \etc\network\interfaces file. You have to remove
any references to interfaces there for network manager to automatically
connect.

See my setup for the interfaces file up below:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

When you run pppoeconf, it will write the adsl connection and the
interface data into the interfaces file. Remove the 2 lines referring to
the interface and restart and you should be good to go.
