Were Intrepid updates the reason I lost my sound on the Intrepid partition?

MPlayer works fine, both video and sound.

SMPlyer video works but sound doesn't.

VLC player works OK, but video quality is lacking.

Dragon Player Video is beautiful, no sound.

Totem Movie Player both sound and video work fine.

Kaffeine  Video works at lesser quality sound works fine.

Those are the video players I currently have.  Any other player that you want 
to see, just tell me the name of it.
