Were Intrepid updates the reason I lost my sound on the Intrepid partition?

If I have the sound muted in one application, do I open each application one 
by one and check them.  Is it only the applications that I am concerned with 
or am I concerned with the audio files themselves and movies?  That would be 
quite a project for me to check.  I have a large number of movies.  In any 
event, I don't remember using mute for a long time, and certainly not as 
recently as the sound stopped working.  It is an uncommon feature for me to 
use.  Thanks for the input, Ric, I will have a look.
