Were Intrepid updates the reason I lost my sound on the Intrepid partition?

This is straight from System Settings:

Audigy 2 [SB0240}, ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback (Side speakers)

PulseAudio

I have most all that ALSA offers that may help, +there is a package that is 
designed for my Audigy 2 sound card.  When I apply the test in system 
settings, it plays beautifully.  I think it may have something with that huge 
upgrade.  Do you have any ideas, friend?

At night when I am alone, I usually play a movie to take place of someone in 
the room while I work on the computer.
