I just closed the shell.  I then opened Adept and it opened normally.  I 
really would like to get the kubuntu-restricted-extras installed.  I think I 
download them to my computer from Ubuntu, but they provided a key of some 
sorts that they did not say where to put.  I never installed it anywhere.  I 
can't even find it anymore.  Could that be the source of my problems.  I also 
remember them asking for a password.  Perhaps they were referring to that key.  
I put my password in when they requested it.  It is probably where I screwed 
up.  If so, is there a way to cure the screw-up?
