Kubuntu 8.10 does not recognise external HD with NTFS and FAT32 partitions.

Hello

With respect to the external HD connection problem, I asked earlier today:

This useful feedback came in:

I do not have such a cable.. I did even not know that such a cable exists.
I do know that the cable I have can easily be replaced by another one.

On the other hand: the external HD I talk about in this thread, has an
own, 'independent' AC/DC power supply; it is self-powered. So I do not
know whether such a double USB cable would be relevant in my case.
