This thread was just done about 2? months ago, so searching the
archives will give you a great overview of the differences. If I am
wrong then check the Ubuntu archives.

Do give you a better overview, Ubuntu is Linux with Gnome desktop and
Ubuntu's pick of desktop software. Kubuntu is the same Linux with the
KDE desktop and Kubuntu's pick of desktop software. The only real
difference is in that very top layer of desktop software. Also you can
have both on the same machine and pick at sign in. For a long time my
machine had about 6 desktops; KDE, Gnome, Xface, Edubuntu,

Here is a fun read but I have one question for the list. Should he
have user purge and not remove of Kubuntu-desktop at the end?
