Answering myself.
I did a 'sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-11-generic'
and it also removed linux-restricted-modules-generic
then did a 'uname -r' which gave 2.6.27-9-generic
I then did a 'sudo apt-get update' followed by 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' and -- no mention of
kernel 2.6.27-11 !!
I wonder what happened?
Anyway I rebooted just to make sure and it booted OK into 2.6.27-9-generic.
So alls well that ends well.
Blessings,
Nigel
