I'm not sure it's true either, but anyway: is this Date created or Date 
modified that stays the same? Date created should be the time they were 
downloaded, while Date modified should stay in sync with the remote file 
until one of the two files is modified (so you would see the slightly 
unintuitive situation of a file which has been last modified before it 
was created :) ). To change the date of a file to the current date, 
type: "touch filename" at the command prompt, it will set the date to 
the current time.
