If you find a solution, I'd love to hear it, because I have the same
problem with flickering video (one of many problems with multimedia on 8.10).

I have been putting it down to KDE4 and sort-of hoping jaunty will be
better, but I have no reason for that belief other than that the presence
of KDE4 is the biggest difference between 8.10 and 8.04.
