This might be old-fashioned, but last time I played an audio cd in a computer 
I needed to get a little black and red wire thingy and connect the cd player 
to the sound card or motherboard. The wires used to come with the players. 
There's an audio socket on the back of the player.
Then again, I also recall something about 'digital' playback from an audio cd. 
Check if your player has something like that.
