Already replied in the other thread. 
Yo need to either browse to the file from within kate's "open" menu, or you 
need to enter the *full path* to the file in the terminal

Groundhog Day indeed :) That is why I have suggested using a forum sometimes, 
as it is easier to view threads on these often complex subjects: all the 
replies are in chronological order, and stay that way ;)
