Thank you. I now understand. Before I got help that I understood, I
attempted, I think sudo su kate. Then I tried sudo kate, not knowing that it
made a difference, but when I used kdesudo it worked. I haven't tried kdesu,
but I am sure it will work too. Anyway, I am not sure I will ever understand
the difference between root and sudo me. They still appear to be me. I am
sure it is just a brain fa_t.
