I want to get the thread back to my original question. As all of the
reference to that has been snipped I'll repeat it with and added call
for aid on the same subject. I asked if one could put Jaunty on an acer
one with a 160giga HD. I understand the answer is yes and that no
special "version" of *buntu is needed. Now for my follow up question.
My acer came with XP installed and I have a 3 year guarantee policy. In
order not to loose the guarantee I thought of cloning my XP onto a DVD
and having it as "backup" to reinstall if ever i need to use the
warranty. My idea was to then install Jaunty after formatting the HD. Is
there a way to do what I want or should I just give up the idea and dual
boot?
About the posting question (answering so as not to be OT ( :-) ). I said when my "highjacked thread" was highjacked to this subject, there is much room for discussion. On the Ubuntu forum (Yahoo forums) this was discussed at length and everybody drew their own conclusion. I personally am with Lindsay but as you all can see, there are rules here and I am abiding by the rules and bottom-posting.
