Intrepid shifted my screen

Hi,
I recently decided to embark on the road from Hardy to Jaunty, and had
always heard that jumping a release was a bad idea.
When I got Intrepid installed, the desktop screen on one machine is now
offset to the right (and wrapping back to the left) just enough so that my
scroll bar appears at the left edge of the screen.
I also have Gnome, and it doesn't happen when I start a session in Gnome.
I can see the shift take place after I login, while KDE is showing the
splash screen icons as it initializes.
Suggestions?
P.S. The video is an Nvidia Geforce Go 7600, though since Gnome's okay, I
doubt that's the issue.
