this is indeed weird. i kept my system tray, i have another panel on
top, which i decided to add another system tray to it, i did, it was
empty, yet, taking the all the empty space of the panel. i tinkered a
bit with the /home/willy/.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc file, i
found the correct section, the 3rd value in the geometry (which i
assume is the width) was very large, decreased it, restarted X, the
widget is still big, and the number in the file returned as previously
was.
i removed it from the panel, manually resized it with the tools that
appear on its side, and held it with the mouse to the panel, it
entered the panel and right away, took up all the space ignoring the
size *I* chose! weird
