Ray, sure you aren't being confused with the connection speed from the
serial port to the modem, rather than the modem connection speed to your
ISP? How would you get a 11500k connect out of a 56k modem? That's all
you can get, right? You're lucky to even get that. I had to throttle
mine down through an init string to choke it down to 28.8 due to old
crusty telco copper lines out here in the toolies, to connect reliably.
More likely one program is reporting the serial speed to the modem and
the other is giving the modem speed to the ISP.
