OK To upgrade Kubuntu, you either need to do it via the internet as the
source for packages, or by using the Alternate disk (the text-based installer
version) as the source, as per the instructions in the link I gave.
Using the Livecd, you *have* to install Intrepid from scratch, but that is OK,
as you have a separate home partition (where all your data is): /dev/sdb2;
When you get to the partitioning section. all you need to do is make sure
you do not set your /home to be formatted, only allow it to format "/",
/dev/sdb1
But to be honest, I think it might be wiser to get a Jaunty disk, as KDE4.2 is
a much better upgrade than the 4.1 in Intrepid. You can get 4.2 in Intrepid,
but that is one extra step and a lot of downloads, You would save all that
with Jaunty
