How to stop updates notifier daemon on Intrepid 8.10

Thanks to you, and Jonas for the replies.

I couldn't find any reference to Adept in KDE's menu, but did find System > 
Software Sources, and was able to uncheck the checkbox "Check for updates".

Hopefully, that has resolved the problem.
