The problem may be that you have only 500kb of memory. I'm not sure of the
hardware requirements on installing, but I have an old laptop with 512kb and
Kubuntu 8.10 runs great for such a low-powered machine.
Did you try an alternate cd? That will install the same juicy goodness, just
using a text-based installer. I've used the alternates when there are problems
with high-end graphic cards and when I install on really old PC's. Usually
works fine. Remember to burn your cd at the lowest supported rate to get the
best results. Good luck!
