well, I solved the issue. Surprise

when i type the passphrase I have to select
WEP 40/104-bit HEX

not WEP passphrase

not WEP 40/104-bit ASCII

however I type the passphrase MyHexPa55w0rd not the HEX key!!!

very odd.
