You are either downloading enormously complex docs, or your machine needs some 
tuning.  I didn't even have that issue with a PIII.

One thing that can really slow down OOo loading is too many extensions loading 
at once.  You can actually install so many that it takes an hour for the app 
to start.  I learned that the hard way.
