KOffice vs. OpenOffice

I don't know about ooo opening old doc files better than word 2007,  
but the Linux version of ooo opens the new docx files better than  
older versions of word.

My cash-strapped non-profit mostly uses office 2000 still, and I used  
to install ooo windows so they could open docx files. Though the Linux  
version handles them well, the windows version lost its ability to  
recognize them. I suspect a windows update broke this.
