Dear Art,
You are just fine. I don't see your response as curt. I stopped using
Windows 3 years ago, though, so I am a little confused. There are a few
things wrong with a used laptop I bought and I am not a techie, and the
model of laptop does not come up even when going to the Compaq site. It
is an Evo N620c according to the indication of the laptop and is
1.8ghz. Those factors never show on any of the Compaq technical data.
Consequently, I am unsure what to purchase to fix and upgrade the
laptop. I am also not very experienced using a Linux terminal or
opening up the laptop to verify the hardware. I have gotten some
commands from kind people that provide a lot of information about this
laptop that I wanted to know, but I still can't identify the
motherboard. I have an issue where when pressing the on/off button to
turn on the computer, it doesn't turn on. I wait and try again and
again and again until eventually it turns on. I expect it is the on/off
switch or a short, but I would like to know before I try to fix the
problem myself. Unfortunately, I am old, on a low fixed income and
cannot afford to hire a technician. So I must solve the problem and
search for an inexpensive replacement part to get the computer fixed.
Your help is most appreciated. Fortunately I was able to fix the email
problem, even though it was stupidity on my part. Usually is.
Thanks again friend.
Steven
