Help with Audacity on Kubuntu 8.04

I still have one problem with the USB turntable. I can record through 
the USB device, but I can't just play a record through my sound card. I 
can only hear the audio when I play back the recorded audio. Is there 
any way to get the USB device to play through my sound card?
