You pretty much got it in the 'clear private data' menu. Clear all that you

OR

Make a new Firefox profile and try from there. If it works, then it's 
something in your old profile and you can decide further.

Run something like:
firefox -a blah
then create a new profile and test it with that profile.

Have you tried the run-from-konsole trick yet?
