Firefox problem

I had already tried after clearing out my so called 'private data' and 
that made no difference. History is empty because I don't keep it.

Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Remember visited pages for the last 0 days.

By putting zero in there no history is kept.

Checking my cookies list there are many items listed, very many in fact. 
If I clear them all out won't that cause me problems with other sites?

When you refer to 'cache' what do you mean exactly?
