Battery state update

Hello,
I've been using KHardy for some time now, before I used KGutsy.
When I started Gutsy in my tx1000 laptop without the battey in it's slot, 
guidance knew that there cold be one and showed me the yellow thrnder only. 
When I inserted the battery, it updated it's icon and the powermanagement 
state.
This does not happen in Hardy.
When I start w/o battery, guidance shows the thunder + battery icon, and battery 
settings are disabled. And when I insert the battery... nothing happens: no 
icon change, no state change, no popup message... nothing. That's until I 
restart guidance with the battery. Then it starts working properly.

I'm using Kubuntu 8.04.1 on a HP Pavilion TX1270ep.
Does any one knows why or has the same issue?... or maybe knows if this is a 
feature insted of an error.
