4.1 white screen?

Ahem, That's what I would have assumed. I've seen the white screen on most
4.1 logins, but it is usually replaced by a normal desktop in a few seconds.
However, I've had a variety of odd behaviors w/ 4.1 on a system that has
3.5.9.
I haven't traced any of the problems, but in general I would say that 4.1
sometimes behaves badly w/ certain X configurations and it definitely
interacts with the 3.5 configuration.
I suggest using a minimum xorg.conf file (comment out everything you don't
absolutely need, which for a single screen config is just about everything).
What happens?
Rename both ~/.kde and ~/.kde4 and then start kde4. What happens?
Quit, replace the new ~/.kde4 w/ the saved one and restart kde4. What
happens?
Start kde3. Quit and restart kde4. What happens?
Restore the saved ~/.kde3. Restart kde4. What happens?
