4.1 white screen?

    I have been bouncing back and forth between 3.5.10 and 4.1.  This is
inside a VBox VM.  Recently 4.1 gets part way through the startup process (the
2nd, 3rd and 4th icons start to fuzz-in as it were) when the entire screen
goes white.  I can still see and move my mouse pointer but nothing else shows.
Has anyone else seen this or have a pointer to what might be going on?
