Not exactly but what is happening is the .kde4 you had in Hardy will in 
intrepid became just plain ol' .kde.  What do you suppose happens to all that 
kde3 information?   Why can't you just keep kde3 ?  Because all your old kde 
directories will be overwritten!

As other have said, KDE developers are pushing to only support the CURRENT 
KDE.   It takes man hours to support so they feel it is better spent in ONE 
direction rather than two!  I have to agree although I do NOT like the feel 
of KDE4 so far.  I do however, have faith that it will get better!
