Changing screen DPI settings

I use Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 3.5.10. The KDE 3 series was designed,
like most user interfaces, for 72 DPI monitors. However, my 1680x1050
15.4" laptop has a DPI of about 128, which makes text and UI elements
tiny. How can one configure the screen DPI in Kubuntu? I have been all
over Kcontrol and cannot find it. In Windows it is very easy to find
by clicking on the desktop properties and following the obvious
settings trail. Note that I know how to change the text size, but DPI
affects other interface elements as well.

Thanks in advance.
