Sound problem in Kubuntu 8.10

1- Did you unmute the sound?   
the sound is muted at install time.
go to your kmixer, and be sure the volume levels are ok and unmuted.

2- Do the mixer SEE a intel card as the first sound card? 
(on top right corner of kmixer)

3- do the module   snd_intel8x0   is loaded ?
(lsmod | grep snd ) 
(it should be automatically loaded at boot time)

4- did you configure the sound card in kde ?
(in kde-system-settings / sound )


these steps should assure you to detect what was the problem,
and solve it. Just make sure to answer YES to the 4 questions.
