KDE File Chooser in GTK apps on Kubuntu

Even though bashing on the KDE developers seems to be the new hype from
what I've been reading here...
Could someone enlighten me why anyone developing for KDE and thus using
QT and kdelibs should be interested in and spending time on deploying 'hacks' 
for GTK apps to use foreign file selectors?

Honestly, they would be 100% right to deny feature requests that doesn't
even concern their project at all.
