Administrator Mode in Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4

Hey.

After my venerable M300 lappie died and was reborn recently, I rebuilt 
it with 8.04 and KDE4.  Things are going ok, but one niggle is that 
system settings doesn't have an administrator mode button any more.  I 
want to do things like set my system to login automatically, which was 
easy in KDE3.

I've done a quick google, and there are several places where people 
moan, and some that say to run it from the konsole under sudo, but is 
there a better way ?
