Fresh install?

No problem whatever.    

1) I always do a manual partitioning of the system which allows me to specify 
that the old /home partition be mounted as the new /home.

2) When defining the user to the install, it will state that "/home/<user> 
already exists...  use the same directory?"  (or something like that)

So you have the option of using the old /home/<user> or making a new one.
