removable media stopped showing 'view'

Hardy Heron - up-to-date.

For the past couple of weeks I can't get any removable media (thumb drives, SD cards etc.) to 
show thumbnails of photos using Konqueror (3.5.9). Dolphin works fine.
Yes I have View>Preview set in Konqueror, and if it's a dir on my hard drive, no problems at all 
- just on removable media.

Any suggestion for a fix?
