You can choose. If you want KDE3 stick with the LTS 8.04 release ;)

8.10 is not an LTS release and traditionally this is the time for more 
drastic changes. We need to drop KDE3 sometime, and for me, 8.10 + KDE 
4.1.2 is as good a time as any to do this.
