How do I format a thumb drive in Kubuntu Hardy KDE 3.5.9

Steven, did you run this command in the thumb drive? you need go to the
directory where the thumb is mounted, usually somewhere in /media , and
once you are in that directory, run "ls -la" . of course, all of this is
inside a terminal.
