Sure.  I use transparency on gnome terminal windows often, because I can 
see what the window would ordinarily be occluding which I might need to 
see to enter into whatever I'm typing.  I also like the feature that 
grays out a window when it's momentarily unresponsive, so that I'm aware 
of that fact when it happens.  The feature that lets you see what the 
actual window looks like when you alt-tab or hover your mouse over the 
icon in the task bar is also helpful.

Mostly, I think it looks cool and I appear to have enough resources to 
handle it so... why not?  Personally, I think it's early in the game 
yet.  Once some people get their creative juices flowing, we'll find 
lots of indispensable uses for it.  Right now, they're just feeling 
their way.
